True he is not a good leader but I kinda think the US should stop all sanctions and try to be friendly maybe they will just stop with the missiles then?

Shipboard systems are built for longevity. The Navy is also slow to adopt new technologies due to the amount of testing needed to have confidence in it. Even on modern ships, you'll still see stuff that looks straight out of the 1930s. Upgrades to any system take place in long, complex overhauls.

And yes, We know already that the U.K paid Microsoft to keep Windows XP support for them.

 

I am no experts, but I believe it has to do with old systems, where they don't want to take a chance that in a war situation you have a malfunction. The current system they have have been deeply tested, and used for years for exercises ensuring that all works perfectly well. The last thing you want is that you are in a war situation, you can't fire a missile  because some new security measure in Windows 7/10 cause problem with the serial connector which connect the system to the missile launcher or something.

 

They probably will get Windows 7/Linux embedded systems with any future purchased of military ships, tanks, and such, which ever the manufacture of the military gear uses.

let me rephrase that... a vast majority of the computers are win 7 now. probably about 97% of workstations.

It's good they don't upgrade!

systems like this are highly custom made and have been tested and bug fixed for years. If you change to an other OS you will open the doors for new bugs. And you don't want to have bugs in a nuclear submarine.
Never touch a running system.
