Missing "pilot hole" on PC case

My side panel's pilot hole or where the screw goes in basically got destroy and now the screw won't thread in or won't tighten. My only solution was to weld the hole shut and make another pilot hole anyone else got suggestions?

You could glue a nut in place and use a threaded machine screw.

English is not my first language, so please excuse any confusion or misunderstandings on my end.

I like to edit my posts a lot.

Can you go one size larger on the screw?

What about a rivet nut in the case?

Welding it will make it really hard (over complicated solution). You likely would be better off to ignore that hole all together and just drill another one near it.
