Pushing 75Hz on a 60Hz display...

ClobberXD

I have an LG 20M37D 19.5" TN Panel, which is specified to run at max. 60Hz, at 1600x900 (max resolution), while it can support 1280x720 at 75Hz.

I am effectively pushing 75Hz at 1600x900, using Intel HD Graphics Control Panel's "Custom Resolutions" Menu, and I'd like to know whether there are any long-term damages, or deterioration to the monitor, or my iGPU?

Thanks guys!

Nothing to see here ;)

I've heard that it will reduce your monitor's life or something like that.

Sure, in the same sense that you can damage anything by pushing it too hard for too long, but 75Hz vs 60Hz probably won't slaughter your monitor. I was running 72Hz on my 60Hz 1080p monitor for over a year before deciding that I'd rather have very noticeable DSR scaling instead of barely-noticeable (if at all) 72 FPS vs. 60 FPS.

If it really concerns you, cap framerates on games, switch to your custom 75Hz resolution before playing, then switch back to 60Hz as soon as you're done.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.

It isnt very quantifiable, but not much...

You should be abe to run 900p at 60+hz, by making a custom res in the nvidia control panel. The increase will be dependant on what your panel/ scalar can handle. My old 1080p ips monitor was able to reach 74hz, while my current 1440p monitor will skip frames at anything above 60hz.
