AKG K7xx Setup Help!

Go to solution Solved by Donk Quixote,

My last motherboard (MPOWER Z87) could not power my last set of AKG headphones (K142HD) sufficiently.  Instead of spending $30 on that adapter it might be prudent to get a headphone amp that takes a SPDIF input like the SMSL 793-II for $65.

uh, you just plug them into a 3.5mm headphone jack...

With the AKG K7xx back on mass drop, I need some help on what I will need to purchase to hook them up to my computer and my xbox one.

Trying to keep it below £100 ($130). Thanks!

I just ordered them too! On Xbox One if you have a newer controller there's a 3.5mm right there. The K7XX's have a 1/4" jack but it screws off to a 3.5mm so you're fine there. If you happen to not have a newer Xbox One controller you need the Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter: http://www.xbox.com/en-CA/xbox-one/accessories/headsets/stereo-headset-adapter#fbid=nfgr8BggDOA it's $30 USD

I am not sure that the Xbox has a good enough amp to power them special through the controller....

To be fair MSI is not really known for putting good amps and dacs on their motherboards.

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

My main Headphones and IEMs:  K612 pro, HD 25 and Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor, HD 580 with HD 600 grills

DAC and AMP: RME ADI 2 DAC

Speakers: Genelec 8040, System Audio SA205

Receiver: Denon AVR-1612

Desktop: R7 1700, GTX 1080  RX 580 8GB and other stuff

Laptop: ThinkPad P50: i7 6820HQ, M2000M. ThinkPad T420s: i7 2640M, NVS 4200M

Feel free to pm me if you have a question for me or quote me. If you want to hear what I have to say about something just tag me.

That's not entirely true, the MSI Z170A Gaming M9 ACK probably has the best audio setup of ANY motherboard.:P

So it will compete with my motherboard (VI formula) xD
