Asus Z170 Pro gaming vs Maximus Hero

Hello ladies and gentlemen. I'm looking at upgrading from my 2500k/deluxe Asus mobo to a 67/600k with one of the two titled mobo. 

 

What would you choose and why? Because I like the Hero, but  don't see why it's almost 100 dollars more.

RGB done right, every parts has RGB except power/reset, and heatsink is designed by EKWB. Can to passive and watercooling.

Why exactly the Pro gaming and Hero?

 

If you can't decide, take the Middle: VIII Ranger.

 

From Pro Gaming to Ranger, its a good step up. Better CPU phase Cooling, better parts, some other stuff.

From the Ranger to Hero, its almost no difference.

Even the Pro can handle OC without any issue, so not much of a difference anyway... it's more a preference of looks/price.

I like the looks of the hero w.o ponying up for a $400 mobo

 

Basically I;m trying to justify the cost of the mobo/ cpu upgrade. I think it makes more sense to get a slightly cheaper mobo with better cpu than the other way around. thoughts?

for a modest overclock, the pro will be fine

I Agree. If you dont mind having 4.5 or 4.6 Ghz, isntead of 4.8/4.9, you wont ever need more than the Pro gamer.

Just Save the Money for the next upgrade.

 

before the Motherboard limits, the CPU will meet its OC-End

For Example, if you get a not that good DIE, and your CPU only manages 4,6 or 4,7 Ghz stable as maximum... It doesnt matter if your Motherboard costs 140 or 400. You won't hit 4.8 Ghz.

If getting the better motherboard requires you to get a worse CPU to fit your budget, then that would be a silly decision. The differences between the two motherboards would be much less noticeable compared to a having a better CPU.
