R9 380 is simply a more powerful GPU by about 15%. It's also go the MSI TFV cooler which is superior to the Gigabrick one.

Well your difference is that the 960 you are looking at is a 2GB card and the 380 is a 4GB.

A 380 most of the time is more powerful than a 960.

R9 380 is the better card and thanks to the Fallout 4 v1.3 patch AMD cards has gained a nice performance boost meaning the 380 is able to beat the 960 as it should've been.

Launch? Yes, V1.3? No, looks about 2-3 FPS average difference.

that's stock benchmarks tho. 970 loves overclocking.

Yea sure but you're going to need to probably hit 1600-1700+ MHz (GPU Boost 2.0) to beat a 1150-1200MHz R9 390.

No, jay compared a turd 970 against a golden 390. And the differences were still within error.

We still doing 970 vs 390 and comparing performance? It's moot...

Nehhhhh that myths been busted, the 390 and 970 will perform the same with the corresponding OC.

Here's a 1550mhz core 970 and a 1140mhz core 390. Same performance, really.

i5 2400 | ASUS RTX 4090 TUF OC | Seasonic 1200W Prime Gold | WD Green 120gb | WD Blue 1tb | some ram | a random case

Compare them by consumer value.

And nvidia delivers a better product, with benefits that are more tangible than "it has the 8GB's". Like proper driver support with new games.

And recording/streaming functionality with (actual) zero impact on performance.

AMD's CPU overhead continues to be a problem with new releases. Fury X trading blows with 970's and 980's should never happen. Regardless of the settings.

And yes, they eventually fix it. But that doesn't make the performance bad for months after release.
