Making Molex into Sata +5V

Zubkover

Hi,

just wanted to ask, what those blue ones supposed to mean... what am I supposed to solder to there, or just leave them be? I mean the Rx DP and Tx MD.

And yes. I made a mistake and bought slim DVD with 6pin Sata for midi tower PC. Now I can't find any way to "officialy" switch the sata type.
Thanks in advance for help.

Regards,

Zubkover

Transmit means those are the pins used to send out data, and Receive means those are the pins used to receive data. The positive and negatives most likely correspond to 1's and 0's respectively.

Yea. I even have the exact same slimDVD that there is on the "bundle" in the 1st link. But amazon is a no no, since I'm in Poland. ^^

Use a normal sata cable for data and power +5V and GND somehow (IDK, stuck/tape some wire, solder if you don't care, etc...)

You'd leave Rx and Tx, some manufacturers do that and seems to work...

I'll try this out today and send the info back in here. : )

Data? Like the load and speed data on 3 and 4pin fan connectors?

All the stuff you're transferring to the drive, and then pulling from the drive.

Kind of, since it's still data, but this is a different kind of data.

But... regular data... on power connector? Dafuq?
What is it supposed to transfer other than just the DVD drive info?

I did found other schematic of the SATA+Molex 5V to needed adapter, there these two gold pins were untouched, just like @DeCobra11 said. I actually am one of there forum people that check google before posting. ^^

The second connector is only for data. The smaller one. The connector has to transfer any data received by the DVD drive as well, like playing back a movie or installing a piece of software from a disc.

In this situation the data SATA is actually the "Bigger one", since we're speaking of SATA with only 6 pins.
Anyway. Let's do the scientific test method go boom. : D

Sorry, referring to the normal SATA connector. Sorry for the confusion lol.

Done the testing. Without these two cords it only powers the same way that 3 and 4-pin fans do, when they're only connected to power source + ground. So 1sec on, then dead till physical reset. Should I then ran a cable just from one pin to another or what?

Thx, but I already got some random to test out from our local vendor. Not the same one though.
But exactly the same build scheme that mine has. D:
I'll be both happy and sad if it'll work o.O
