More dual boot/Hackintosh stuff..

When It comes to dual booting all tutorials say to format an entire drive from within OS X and create 2 partitions. One for OS X and another For Windows.

My question is; can I create a partition using Windows 7 disk management. Then in the OS X installation, format that partition I created and turn it into one Mac partition to install OS X?

Also, can I dual boot with my current Windows 7 install. Or will I have to remove it for whatever reason?

Thanks,
