Okay so i was putting in a new graphics card and my arm got hit. The metal bracket scratched the motherboard right over the audio lanes. Now in windows there is no audio and it says the realtek audio devices are being constantly unplugged and reattached. Do you think the scratch was the cause of the problem or was it something else. For now i disabled the audio device. Please help me.

For a second I thought that was a plastic strand xD

As for the motherboard though if the scratches are deep enough it can potentially have damaged the traces.

You shouldn't have any problem just leaving it but if it did damage the traces for the audio there isn't really an easy fix for something like this.

Probably not... You might be able to take it in somewhere and have them fix it, but other than that I think your onboard audio is toast.

A solution would be to buy something like a PCI or PCIE soundcard and use that instead of the motherboard's audio. You could also use a DAC or something, I think.

Here's Linus explaining them.

if its damaged the traces then electrical tape wont help. maybe try to clean out the material in the scratch with some type of contact cleaner(not the cleaner for your eyes lol but actual electrical contact cleaner) in hopes that if the traces are scratched it might help(if a piece of material is grounding out on another trace cousing the disconnect) though if it cut it the traces only thing i can think of is kinda ghetto and involves soldering where the scratches are to re bridge the broken traces or buy a sound card

Taran and Luke did something to fix a mouse in this video. You would probably want to be more careful on a motherboard, but it's an idea.

Personally, I wouldn't try this, but if you've got a steady hand or some really fine way of doing this, try it out. Let me know how it goes.
