970, AMD fixes problems on the 300 series before they fix the issue on the 200 series. Which means as a 290x owner you'd be waiting for something to be fixed, that's been fixed for weeks on the 390.

 

Why I sold my Vapor X 290 and switched to Nvidia to get proper driver support.

My 290 never went over it's 4g with over 50 mods running in Fallout 4 in 1440. Well, it did once but I only knew because Afterburner logged it. Games use the VRAM made available to them. I use 5g playing the same setup in Fallout 4 with my 980ti.

Really depends on the games. I've owned both and wouldn't trade Nvidia features for 10fps. The 970 and 290x trade blows so which games you play will decide the fps each gives you. If you play Gameworks titles, you'd be silly not to get the 970.

Well the GameWorks really sways that. Looks like I'm going nvidia lol I previously was going to buy a fury, but I wanted to get something a little cheaper but still strong

Yeah the features included for Nvidia owners in Gameworks games are no joke. Check out the Nvidia only weapon effects in Fallout 4.

I don't see the point of debris in this game. Maybe some other game... 970 performs better in Witcher 3. I have 390 (before that I had 290X), and there are fps drops in Fallout 4. I am not here to tell you witch one to pick...

Makes a big difference in immersion during firefights. Especially when you're pinned down by heavy fire.

Yeah, FPS dropping surely create great immersion while firefighting in wide open area in Fallout 4.
