First ever build, ~$850

DutchTexan

I don’t know a lot about computers, but I’ve been spending a lot of time planning out my first build. I mainly need it to replace my (late 2012 2.7GHz i5) Apple iMac. I will play Starcraft 2 about two hours a day on the lowest settings (for strategic reasons), run a RC flight simulator, and will need to study with it(research, essays) and do spreadsheets + presentation work for college/work. My budget is flexible, but I’m really just looking for, “hey that’s a solid build... except I’d swap...” as I’ve already had a great number of very credible suggestions and builds.

I want this computer to run as a normal computer so I want some basic speakers and a optical drive(memory stick just cause). I’m planning on getting Windows 10 + Microsoft office, a monitor, and speakers elsewhere. I already have a mouse and keyboard.

Here is what I have in my cart. I don’t need anything more or less (that I know of) but I just want another opinion that or how to optimized all the components in my cart.

As for overclocking, I’m not sure I will get into that immediately, but after a year or so of ownership I will probably overclock the i5 6500.

Looking for build with good balance and life

For your needs, I think what you have is pretty good.

I switched from a Mac too (i7 / 1.7ghz.. I know it was hilariously slow) and Windows 10 is so much better than what Windows 8 was (at least when it started)
