helping a friend build a pc, would like input.

wujoh

The CPU and GPU are a bit aged, but other than that it looks pretty good.

a friend is asking for me to build him a pc, and i don't know which parts to pick, so far i have compiled this http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/wujoh/saved/vH8D4D

is this ok? his budget is around a thousand and has to include an monitor.

Only thing I would do is change out the gpu and add a ssd

Agreed with the above, but this is more of a preference kind of thing.. maybe a more minimalist case?

Any Fractal Design case, or an NZXT one

probably no need to change, just a suggestion :)

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/vLhrTW i built this and i think its a little more modern. I went over budget by 100$ because some of the parts were a little overpriced when compared to newegg. like the ssd is almost 60$ more than it really is. they always have them on sale for 150
