Yes, I know I know. Why a 970 over the 390.. I'm not gonna be doing much gaming, only some simple CS:GO as well as some mini games like blacklight retribution and others.. plus it has a lower power consumption and it'll help with my budget... I just want to know what the best gtx 970 card is :) Any thoughts?

I have two evga 970s, the account 2.0 SC. Just pick based off of aesthetics and if you plan to oc, then the top or 2nd from the top cooler from each manufacturer. At the stock clock the performance and temp differences are marginal

I wanted to get an evga 970, either the acx 2+ or the superclocked one..

There is an acx2. 0 SC, that's what I have.  Also an ssc but not a huge difference. I like evga because of the backplates and God tier customer support from evga

Do not get the Strix if you want to be able to overclock. It can't OC worth a damn.

Although it's quiet, and runs cool. I've never heard the fans on mine, except when I've messed with them in the OC software that came with it and turned them up to full blast.

I have the second, pretty sure the difference is route heat pipes take and the placement of vrms on the back of the pcb. Both are great cards

It's limited. The Strix is meant for quiet and cool operation, not overclocking. Although I got lucky and had one with better memory chips that can be overclocked really well compared to the more up-to-date versions of the Strix (different manufacturer on the memory chips)

I run mine at 1400MHz when I game. I tried to go above that but it started getting crashy on me.

Strix owner here and I've had great luck with it so far. I will say I had one of the original Evga ssc models and the fans were unbearably loud and had a big issue with coil whine. I also had the gigabyte g1 version and it was great with the exception of an issue with faulty vram and coil whine. The strix has been extremely cool and quiet. I'm really happy with it.

Not a problem, happy to help! Enjoy your new graphics card

If i get that card, it doesn't support a dual link DVI-D connector that the BenQ XL2411Z comes with, only dual link DVI-I, so should I get an ASUS VG248QE which does support displayport, and so does the gpu, and get a displayport to displayport cable to enable 144hz?

I've had the same experience with my Strix. I'm impressed at what a little powerhouse it has been. Being able to run Modded to hell Skyrim (on ultra), and GTA V and Dying Light (not on ultra though) on 5760x1080p was surprising to me.

All the while never getting hot enough that I ever heard the fans running whilst actually gaming. At least not over the other 8 fans in my case that are running full blast.

Either the Gigabyt g1 or MSI twin frozr. Both run pretty cool and quiet and pretty good components

It had a DVI-D, DVI-I, hdmi, and display port. Or at least mine does. Or at least I'm pretty sure. You want a picture of the back?
