Suggestion for a new gpu that able to run 3440x1440

Wsinno

Hello, I need to buy a new gpu for my lg curved 3440x1440 monitor as my current gtx770 doesn't seem to cut it.

I am from Australia so I usually order my parts from https://www.pccasegear.com.

My current setup a x99-a with 5820k

980ti is definitly out of my reach as I do not want to spend over $1000 for a gpu.

Edit: I mostly play mmorpg such as blade and soul, wow, d3 and phantasy star online 2

then you're pretty much screwed...play your games on low settings. :)

(just kidding, get an R9 390 it's substantialy more powerful than a 770 and it has lots and lots of memory it'll do great it sure won't run games on Ultra but it will be a lot better..a 980ti would be ideal though).

This one:

EDIT: well...looking at it it's only a +45% upgrade, so it will be noticeable but maybe not the performance boost you are looking for overall...why did you bought such a monitor in the first place if you don't have money to blow on GPU upgrades son?

http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-770-vs-AMD-R9-390/2174vs3481

EDIT 2: i don't know why they rate ''effective speed'' only 45% better when all the scoring results point to a 55% upgrade...anyways, i think it's worth it especially if you can get some money in return for the sell of the 770

GTX 980 for most games. (Just not the newest on ultra/very high)

GTX 980ti for ultra/very high on every game.

390X is not powerful enough. Would not suggest. Fury X does not have enough vRAM for its price.

gtx 980 works good for me at high to max settings, 60 fps

GTX 980 cheapest is 749$ on his website...R9 390 is 509$...so yeah...not worth it to go with nvidia.

I beought from a Christmas sale for only $800AUD which is almost $500 off from the original price.

yeah whatever it is it's still a strong GPU with a very strong memory configuration and it perform quite well at 1440p...especially for the price point :)

yes it run hot and consume quite a bit of power but it's a good powerful GPU...it's as fast as a GTX 980 in some games actually...it fall short in a few other but i do not think the 980 is worth 759$ if you can find a 390 for 509$.

Anyways the only GPU that will really be epic at such high resolution IMHO is the 980ti....paying 749$ for a GTX 980 is sure to leave him disappointed IMHO rather spend 1100$ on a Ti...or 509$ on a 390 :)

how does a plain 980 have enough vram and a r9 fury doesnt...? they both have 4gb I don't understand your logic... oh for the price

The Fury X is a powerful card, so the vRAM is going to hold it back. The 980 is less powerful so the amount of vRAM and the settings it can handle are much more balanced.

4GB is enough for 1440p...but for 750$+ cards it's meh...

is this card too expensive for you OP?

I prob won't get sapphire tho, I had bad experiences with the company, i brought a ati 6950 back in early 2011 and it die on me within a month and the RMA process was painful since I live in AUS.
