Can't play anything online when someone is using YouTube on the same network.

LokiFire

Been playing CS and all of a sudden latency has gone to shit, went into the kitchen, bro is watching stuff on YT on his laptop..

It happens every time someone watches YT, and it destroys anyone else's enjoyment. Anything i can do?

Are you using Ethernet or wifi?

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.

Get better internet, use Ethernet, get a router that's decent and prioritizing loads.

I have an ASUS router that i can plug up to the main router and use it's QOS settings? i can change his connection to the ASUS and mine too and prioritize game traffic, will that work?

Can't not use the original router since it's a ADSL+.

I wish I could use ethernet, but my PC is too far from any ports.

I had to buy myself expensive 4G internet because wifi regular broadband was too crappy.

Because running a cable across two floors from the front to the back of the house wouldnt do any favour with the parents.

Now Im gonna sound like a total noob about this, but I've honestly been trying to search for some kind of 'mains powered ethernet connection' for ages. How exactly do powerlines work? Do I need to alter any of the homes wiring because Im not allowed to do that.

Right, I found some, ordered these:

https://www.scan.co.uk/products/tp-link-tl-pa451kit-500mbps-av500-powerline-set-with-ac-passthrough-twin-pack-2x-uk-plugs-128-bit-ae

I thought at first that 200 Mbps should do, but reading reviews, even with a way below 200 Mbps internet connection, the 500 Mbps ones give significantly higher speed, and they were just £10 more.

Wish I'd known about those before I bought a 24 month mobile broadband contract.

Linus is my fetish.
