Computer Security

What does the Linus Tech Tips forum think the best security software is for windows. I have a client who is annoyed by AVG and would like to switch to a better one.

Microsoft Security Essentials.

Not the best, but it's better than nothing. I use it personally. Works great with common sense!

Microsoft Security Essentials.

I use this and so far its detected all viruses/malware that have somehow made it onto my computer. (One actually on my computer, another on a flash drive before it could do any harm)

Every topic I post in dies.

Not going to rouge websites and not sticking any random memory device to your computer.

To avoid rouge websites use TOR, NoScript, Ghostery, FlashBlock, and Collusion. NoScript takes patients but worth a million times more than some anti-virus software that actually lets the bad things in.

I roll with sigs off so I have no idea what you're advertising.

This is NOT the signature you are looking for.

For free, I'd say Avast.

If you're willing to drop about $20 then I'd highly recommend Malwarebytes.

I can't be the only one that sees Norton in the same light as malware, am I? It's bloated as sin.

Whenever I hear Norton I go eww.  Years after I uninstalled it off my old laptop I was finding Symantec files.

COMODO Internet Security Premium. Yes it is free.

I've tried norton before, and i have to say its a pain in the a*s, it uses a lot of resources and it slowed my comp down, after changing it my computer sped up significantly. Annoying thing was, i had to download a Norton Antivirus uninstaller from their website to remove the darn thing.
