There's been driver updates and betas since then. Why DF needs to revisit games rather than wasting time on consoles.

Yeah, but that will only attenuate some of it. I'm not convinced AMD suddently fixed their entire overhead issue in one driverupdate.

LOL, no. Still runs like crap. And AMD is the master of hiding the dust under the rug and calling the floor clean.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

If you can turn Godrays off in the ini files. That pixilation around everything in Rays will go away, more for looks than performance.

What's your CPU usage. One thing to do is find a problem spot and make a save. Now use that save to try settings and possible fixes. If your CPU usage is over 70% in that spot that's one of the problems.

Another common issue with Fallout 4 is RAM speed. Fallout 4 will reward and increase in speed with fps all the way up to 3000mhz on the system ram. If you can overclock your do so and use that save spot to test improvements.

Keep us up to date and give us as much information as possible. I run a 4790k and a 980ti and I can't run ultra settings in every location and keep 60fps in 1080p. Fallout 4 is a pain. But it's worth the trouble IMO.

CPU usage looks normal not really going over 65% MOST of the time. There are like 2 second gaps that it hits 70 but not more. Do you believe that my ram is an issue even though i never had a problem with my 760? i mean same thing could be said about the cpu right?

Different drivers. Nvidia's place much less strain on your system than AMD's. I gained 10fps going from 1600mhz to 2200mhz in some areas. Going to the i7 was a game changer.

This is the best reference I know of on Fallout 4 and fps.

Yes it's from launch and before Crimson. But all AMD did was move the workload to improve fps in the areas needed in order to gain better benchmarks. I know because I ran a 290 and 390 through Fallout since launch to two weeks ago. Not picking on AMD, just the way the game works. Why I don't like benchmarks that lie. Hell I know Fallout 4 so well they should hire me because I could double those scores and make a 380 look better than a 980ti.

@ 0:40 ish

Your benchmark looks normal but those games is GPU limited and Fallout 4 is CPU limited.

Things to try,

1. Disable ULPS

2. Disable Vsync + don't cap the frame (If your FPS didn't go over 60 mean Vsync is still enable)

3. Download ClockBlocker and set it to Block for Fallout 4. (http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=404465)

4. Reset Crimson/Catalyst Control Panel to factory default.

5. Backup your save game and create a new game.

6. Reduce/tighten your RAM timing.

I have a similar problem. I use the same exact card and play FO4 as well. Though my frames don't dip as low as yours. I tweaked the settings a bit. I heard that shadow distance has noticeable impact on FPS, so I turned that down. When I go into MSI Afterburner and view my GPU usage it's all over the place. My PSU is an XFX TS 550, so that shouldn't be a problem. I also heard that FO4 likes its CPUs

Guys i have finally done it. I'm not sure if this is a band aid solution but I will say it is a victory for me since I'm just barely getting into PC gaming and have little to no knowledge on how to do most of the stuff you guys have told me.

So, what I did was I turned Vsync On [Off] by changing the .ini file I believe? (I opened up notepad and changed iPresentinterval=1 to 0)

Then, after much reading online, I saw that the engine doesn't like to run at past 60fps. Thank you Bethesda? So ended up limiting my fps to 60 through MSI Afterburners Riva Tuner software...

I can now run the game at Ultra with godrays turned down to low and no motion blur. Avg fps using the SAME area i did for the aforementioned fps is about 58.

All that being said, I have no idea if what i did is detrimental to my game. I have no idea if its gonna ruin it. Please let me know of any issues you think this might cause.

Nah, i recall the Console will bug out if your FPS is over 100 or 120., below that it's fine. Just cap it at 60.

I suggest set the ini file as read only or replace the default launcher with this one. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/102/?

Update your game to latest patch because it boost performance for AMD card, i think Bethesda downgraded the graphic to achieve such boost.

Go into your Steam library. Go to Fallout 4 and right click on it. Then go to the bottom and click on properties, then go to Betas, and finally use the drop down to bring up the 1.3 beta and click on it to activate it.

Reverse the process to leave the Beta.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

If it's not your PSU not supplying enough power then it's nearly definitely your drivers; as others have said boot into safe mode, remove all graphics drivers with DDU (as in Intel, AMD, and nVidia), reboot, and install the Radeon drivers.
