Hello guys,

I will probably make a lot of typo's and not discribe what I want very well so sorry about that.

Can I make a server so I can host game servers and on it, if yes how?

Is there anything that I need to educate myself in?

What are the parts I need?

thanks for your help!

(very sorry that it is this basic)

what he said is still correct, for a dedicated server all you really need is a PC.

"Unnamed Form Factor Switch" || CPU: i7 6700K || RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury 16GB || Case: Phanteks Enthoo Evolv Mini ITX (White) || Cooler: Cryorig R1 Ultimate (Green Cover) || Storage: Samsung 850 Evo 1TB || PSU: XFX XTR 550W || Mobo: ASUS Z170I Pro Gaming || GPU: EVGA GTX 970 FTW+

I see, wow it is much easier than I tought.

Thanks guys.

I hate raining on parades. But technically speaking running a server that streams to the internet is against the TOS of most ISP's unless your on a business connection. Now if your not using too much traffic, they may not notice. But just be aware. You might get a nasty letter in the mail.

Also you dont necessarily need Windows might be able to use linux, you will just have to check that your games are supported. If you want to save money.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

i'm less worried about ISP's TOS than i am about the security risk.

i'd dare to say ISPs dont put that in their ToS to promote their buisiness lines, but rather because if someone DDoS'es you, they also DDoS the rest of the neighborhood.

Dude, if you do not understand what this guy was saying then you need to stop. A computer and a server is the same exact thing. The only differences is you won't be using it directly. Once you understand this then you can build whatever you want. Have you seen linus's videos? Sometimes he uses normal PC hardware in servers, sometimes buys more server focus hardware - but at the end of the day there is nothing special about the differences - just choices.

Note: This is about your way of thinking. Of course there are better choices hardware wise.
