Hi,

just curious as to the average typing speed of the community here.  Please vote based off of 10fastfingers.com (not advertising) just to make sure we all have the same difficulty. I do just over 100.

According to 10fastfingers.com, 91 WPM, however when typing full on sentences with punctuation, it's about 60 - 80

I do not think that they are accurate for some people, for me i can not type that fast and accurate when i am not looking at the keyboard so i have to keep stopping and looking up at the screen to see what i need to type.

It's still accurate, since that is part of typing (whether or not you look at the keyboard.)

It's still accurate, since that is part of typing (whether or not you look at the keyboard.)

A lot of the time it is not though, i don't need to look at the screen to type down something i have in my head.

You do not need to type that fast unless you can actually write code that fast. I only know a few people who can code as fast as they can type and with a few if not any compiling errors.

I've never ever ever sat down and wrote code at 52 WPM.  It's always, write one line...wait for like 15 seconds....write another line...oh shit that was wrong, oh no that other line was wrong too, etc, etc. 

 

Besides the languages that offer more direct access to memory are almost deliberately written to make you suffer.  It takes me so long to write anything in MIPS (fuck you $) compared to writing something in Python.

Depending on the test 60-80. A test with proper sentences and punctuation I'm in the 60s. In a test like FastFingers it's 70+ easy. I have very low air rate so I got that going for me which is nice.

Quick thoughts on system: I7 is extremely quick and I'm glad I spent the extra for hyper-threading. I regret my decision to get the GTX 970, it has horrible coil whine. There isn't any excuse for this terrible whine I and others are having. I HIGHLY recommend a 144hz monitor. Future Improvements/upgrades: Rubber fan mounts, basic speakers, more ram (for a total of 16gb), replace GPU.

144hz is love. 144hz is life. I like to submit unfinished posts then do about 20 edits. I like the Night Theme too.
