I have my 290 cooled by a Corsair H110, and it only hits around 78c, so that's pretty good.

Running an EK Predator (sort of, it's hardlined with a supremacy evo block) 5820k staying under 70c running 4.4ghz@ 1.3v under stress. It stays in the 60s under real-life application loads. It's my favorite in the fact that it's expandable and uses custom loop components as an aio.

That being said for most applications the h100i is probably the most common and honestly the most practical liquid cooler.

I've had the h80i and h105 from corsair. I really liked my h105 a lot more despite it not having the buggy corsair link software. I had noctua fans on it an it kept my CPU nice and cool and wasn't too loud. If I had to switch back to an AIO from my custom loop, I'd pick the h105 again.

Cost efficient?

LEPA Aquachanger 240, with aftermarket fans.

Cooling?

Nzxt x61 with aftermarket fans.

If your case supports it, I'd highly recommend 280mm aios over both 240 and 360 variants.

I have installed almost everything from corsair in many builds (due to their warranty). I personally use the H105, the stock fans were louder than jet engines going mach 5, I guess i got faulty ones, fixed that with 2 NF-F12 and now my build is whisper quiet, and my i5 4690K is around 36c under load on stock and 40ish at 4.2Ghz.

I use a Corsair H60 on an i7 4790k clocked at 4.8 @ 1.285v. I max around 82 under encoding, 65 under gaming, and idles at 25-31. I am replacing it this week with a swifttech H220 x2 to reach 5ghz, and give it better performance / quieter performance. I am running my H60 with 2 SP-120 fans ran in push pull pulling air from outside the case.

my go to is the H100i (no corsair link use), but i use the H105 for the thicker core.

using either the SP120 QE PWM (looks) or the rosewill hyperborea fans (performance)
