My friends package loss is back.

I am helpless.

It just can't be that he has ~50% packet loss with a wireless stick that worked flawlessly the other day.

Powerline gives him such low speeds that he basically is back to stone age ... from 50 down to sub - 5.

He can't lay a cable sadly.

I have no idea how you would fix the wireless since he already tried 2 different sticks and 2 different powerline adapters.

Just, ... OH GOG help ME!!! uhh :/ him

Could be something interrupting or getting in the way of the signal.

Wireless is a pice of shit, i can say that as someone that has survived with this shit for one and a half year(but im getting a cable in about a month :D) its probably the chip overheating. thats the problem i was mainly having with usb dongles and still have with my PCI-E card  :( crack open the dongle and install a small heatsink and solder on a better antena, might work, might destroy the dongle(and definatly any warranties) thats my best solution to this problem, or a wifi repeater

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

he is on 5GHz.

Have you tried switching to the 2.4 GHz band and seeing if that helps? I noticed that my 5GHz band does not work as well as my 2.4GHz band on my iPad.

2.4GHz would be more susceptible to interference from a microwave than 5GHz.

Yeah, but what im saying is that not every device is compatible with the 5GHz band, and the adapter may work better with 2.4 GHz. Its worth a try at least.

I just through mine against the wall and the plastic cover poped apart and now I am letting a puzzle lay on it. It kind of helps. Only crashes once a week or so but still is like always +5°C above body temp (not outer, inner!)

Power line could be the issue... there are plenty of potential situations/things to consider that would cause service to fluctuate.

Why is old-fashioned wired completely out of the question?

I have more cores/threads than you...and I use them all

Download something like WiFi analyzer on your phone and walk around and see how the signal looks. It could be interference, I know from personal experience that 5Ghz can go through a few Walls and work fine. I noticed you said he tried 2 different sticks, if your friend is using USB wireless adapters that could be the issue, they suck. I would try a PCI express solution.

@Bananasplit_00, dude I have been on wireless since 2005. You dont know what being on wireless is.

Further more if he has coax ran to his room and there is coax by the router he could look in to MoCa.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
