asus z87-pro and ssd freezes

Hello I've had my new pc built and running perfectly for about 3-4 months now. But recently my pc has been freezing. Most of the time it freezes at idle and when the task manager is open it shows the disk(sandisk ssd) is maxed out at 100%. I have tried restoring the pc to a restore point to when it was working but that had no effect.
 
I currently have an asus z87-pro motherboard and a 500gb sandisk ssd. 

 

Is there anything I can do to fix the ssd or could it be the motherboard?
