I have an EVGA GTX 970 SSC with the ACX 2.0+ cooler and was looking at the corsair hg10 n970 only to realize that it pretty much only supports reference PCBs. My question is simple, how would I go about strapping an aio like a corsair h100I or cooler master nepton 140x?

Don't get any of the Corsair HG10s. They suck.

You have to get reference cards and take them apart for the cooler fan.

Instead get an NZXT G10. Practically any video card, practically any AIO cooler.

The one issue with the g10 (I had them on my 2 old 760s) is that they dont give much thought to vrm cooling, and even on lower power cards like the 760s, the vrm got very hot...

Well, You would need to do some checking... but I am assuming that the 980 and the 970 share a nearly identical PCB and imagine that the EVGA 980 hybrid cooler might work on your 970.

Your 970 should be a reference PCB, i believe evga starts changing the PCB with the FTW model and up.

The 980 Hybrid cooler is HERE and IMO the most normal/complete looking AIO option available.

You do realize that there is a 92mm fan blowing air DIRECTLY onto the VRMs and is perfectly sufficient, right?

quick question. I have 2 windforce3 980ti's in a h440. So I'm either needing a new case or to water cool them. Should I go custom loop for like £400 or will a nzxt bracket fit on them? Idk if they're reference or not. I tried looking, same pcb as the g1 gaming I believe

It's not, the VRMs are on the other side of his card.

The fan is directly below the VRM on the reference cards though.

Nvidia reference GTX 970

EDIT: Ah crap, ekwb's configurator page put up a pic of the reference 980 pcb for the refrence 970. The reference 970 seems to have the vrms on the left too.

The refrence 970 pcb is almost identical to my old 760s in the sense that there is almost nothing on the right side of the card, so that fan does absolutely nothing...

The vrms have a heatsink on them for a reason. Having a fan blow on it does not help.

That fan might as well not even be that for all its worth.

You should have enough radiator mounts to mount all of your rads. Whether or not you go 2 AIOs with G10s or custom is up to how much either solutions will cost and how much work you want to put into this. Double check AIO prices, as well as how much a custom watercooling loop would cost for you

Hmm, alright interesting point. Even though the fan might not be directly over the VRMs for your particular card, I'm still sure there are some PCBs that have the VRMs over the fan on the G10. I guess for a card like yours, either ghetto strapping a fan or using a whole card waterblock would work. Perhaps strapping a passive heatsink to the VRMs might help?

But I'm sure that if the fan is blowing directly over the VRMs, it will be sufficient enough cooling

The issue is that vrms are tiny in comparison to the amount of heat they generate. There simply isnt enough surface area for heat dissipation to occur, even if there is a fan. It isnt on par with the core itself, however the heat density is significantly higher than that of the vram, which can do fine with no direct cooling.

While I did run my card with no cooling on the vrm for a few days, after I put a thermometer on it and tested the temps (surface temps were over the max the thermometer could read which was 75C), I went and got a makeshift heatsink as soon as possible.

It says unknown for my model (SSC ACX 2.0+

Pretty much all cards will have the same mounting holes around the core, which is what the g10 uses.

my evga 760sc was not explicitly labeled, but it worked fine.

I guess I'll just have to buy it and tinker a little bit to truly find out if it'll work out not. If it doesn't work out, I guess I could always buy the ekwb predator 360 when it's released
