Windows 10 upgrade from Windows 7

Users who have installed W10 from within W7 and not done a clean install afterwards, how's the experience been??

 

Did it go smoothly for you, or did you have to jump through hurdles to get it running satisfactorily??

 

Did you revert back to W7, or do a clean install of W10 after the in-place upgrade?

 

 

I'm happy with W7 currently, and do want to try W10 on my main system, but im keen to hear your thoughts on this.

Completely fucked up two machines, had to revert.

Windows 10 made me switch to OS X (10.11.2)

My speakers dont even fit on or under my desk...PA's FTW

It was all wrong on my laptop and I had to do a clean installation. Then I switched to Linux Mint.

hmm. well beside having to install windows 10 like 6 times in the first week due to bs bugs and not being able to create accounts and such but now that everything is sorted out im fine

Being an avid gamer, I upgraded to win10 with a lot of programs (a lot..) and I expected to come across some compatibility issues. The fix was as simple as reinstalling them. But if you are intending to play games on your PC, I recommend not upgrading at all, the layout is much less convoluted and is easier to work with.

You can do a complete clean install of windows 10 without doing the upgrade process

just use your windows 7/8/8.1 key to activate windows 10 after installing it from a USB
