760 SLI or 970?

Deadlyinx

Currently have a Zotac GTX 760.

Wondering if i should buy another one for $150 and go SLI or buy a 970 for twice the price.

IS it worth blowing $150?????? Considering Future proof, Sli issues/optimization?, power consumption? (i dont know...)

CPU: i5-6600k

I would personally go with the best single card that you can afford.

It's a real bummer when you're depending on the horsepower of an SLI setup, and then a game doesn't support it properly.

r9 390 no compromises it beats out 970 in many cases where drives are up to the game and 8 GB is future proof. It does drain more power but its worth its performance

CPU i5 6600k 4,4Ghz , COOLER Dark Rock 3 from BQ, RAM 16 GB of ddr 4 2800MHz from corsair,

 PSU EVGA 750 W GOLD G2, MOBO Msi z170A Gaming M3, CASE NZXT H440 Black/Blue,

GPU Geforce GTX 980 Gigabyte G1 Gaming,

go with the 970 for ease of use.

I had 2 760's and they were hella fast (faster than a 970 in raw performance), but the vram holds it back.

When my old 760s were overclocked, they were faster than my current 780ti, so its nothing to scoff at...

390,970 for the most preformance

CF,SLI still has lots of issues and not all games support it so i would advise not going 2

They dont have a lot of issues. Just occasional problems with poorly ported games.

Over the 2ish years i had my 760 sli setup, I did not encounter many problem other than in watch dogs...

just because you dont encounter them dosen't mean others do, its like saying all CX are ok because mine still didn't destroy my pc

Yeah, but the majority of games run well, and in those cases sli is fine, and has very good scaling. Saying it has a lot of issues, is saying that most games are bad ports, which is not true.

I understand that its better, but is it $150 better? As in is it really worth spending double, or is the performance too similar.

Single powerful card > Multiple weaker cards.

It's worth it.

Then you might as well go for the 2nd card.

The scaling of a single card is not worth that money right now.

You will be paying more for better scaling and more vram, but as someone who had 2 760s, and am now using a single 780ti, the sli route is a great option of you already have one card.

Not for $150. $150 is a lot of money. 760 isn't that far off from the 970 in the first place, anyways.

The 970 is marginally better than the 780, so it's quite a bit above the 760 in terms of performance.
