um how do I make it not sound nerdy?

That's always the fun part. I know a good example I've seen is 3D printers, which seems to fascinate a lot of people. You just have to spark their interest and not approach it like "this will be a club aimed towards object-oriented programming... blah blah blah...". Make it sound appealing. Maybe even offer food for the first meeting? Having "cool" friends join in too helps. It all really depends on your school situation but ultimately make it sound appealing.

I mean I do want a few members but I am a little shy so I don’t know if I can talk to like 20-30 people

So just make some flyers and see what happens. If you want more members then branch out a bit.

If computers exist, there is a person/people who maintain this. This is known as the IT department.  ;)

 

I don't think you'd be able to give it to the school. Liability and garbage. 

 

What you could do is build some and donate them to charity or give them to those who need it.

 

You could always hold a raffle. Kids love raffles, especially for gaming computers and stuff.

so the raffle ticket would be free or one dollar or you just have to be in the club to get a chance to win it?

Depends on how you want to do it. If you want to do it as a fundraiser, sell the tickets for $2-5. 

 

If you want to do it as enticement to join, do it to members at the end of the year, and each time they show up to a meeting they earn a raffle ticket.

 

If you want to do it as a giveaway, just get a list of people interested and randomly pick one.

about 900 people are at my school and some have low income and others have mid, but I think only a few have a high income 

Edit: I’m not sure how I want to give it away, yet. I think it will be a raffle, but the thing is I’m not sure if people are willing to pay to win a computer, I could always do a poll.

SO the topic title is pretty self explanatory. Any ideas on what do do in this aforementioned computer science club? Any fundraiser ideas? Sponsors that I should look at?

I made one and it is pretty cool. We built a cluster computer with old school computers found a working type writer and made notes, strapped a motor to a girls bike. Broke CRT monitors, and much more

I made one and it is pretty cool. We built a cluster computer with old school computers found a working type writer and made notes, strapped a motor to a girls bike. Broke CRT monitors, and much more

If computers exist, there is a person/people who maintain this. This is known as the IT department.  ;)

 

I don't think you'd be able to give it to the school. Liability and garbage. 

 

What you could do is build some and donate them to charity or give them to those who need it.

 

You could always hold a raffle. Kids love raffles, especially for gaming computers and stuff.

I have it everyday during lunch for an hour and since we are in charge and there are no teachers it gets pretty crazy. Fire, saws, nail guns, shorting wall outlets, hammers, oh and we watercooled a PC with an altoids tin and pop bottle and managed to get it to 60C at 3ghz with toothpaste. Oh it was AMD Athlon too.

about 900 people are at my school and some have low income and others have mid, but I think only a few have a high income

I'd say be careful with the first raffle. Play it quite conservative. Don't want to go overboard and bankrupt yourself right off the back. I'm working on a build for you real quick, should be up soon.

What I heard to do is buy an Amazon E-gift card. This place is vetted and they only allow people who are reliable to sell here. Also check on the comments to make sure that they send promptly. Lots of people here do it, and they buy in bulk to make it cheap. They essentially get it for OEM price. If you are concerned, let me know before doing the actual thing.
