So I was just thinking about cases, and theres something I wanted to ask that always kinda bothered me... Why does everyone hate PSUs? I see tons of  the higher end cases coming with shrouds that cover the PSU entirely. The only justification I've heard thus far is it "covers the ugly PSU logo." But what makes a PSU logo so much worse than any other? I would understand if people were against all company logos in their PCs, and were going out of their way to cover them all up with electrical tape, paint, or by other means. But that isn't the case at all. You see company logos on nearly every other component. AIO watercooling loops, some cpu heatsinks, fans, cases, ram dimms, motherboards, SSDs, video cards. And in some cases, those company logos are even displayed proudly. I mean lets be serious here, most of our PC interiors have more company logos than a nascar race car. So what specifically about the PSU logo is so much worse that people go out of their way to find ways to hide it, and go as far as making it a feature of modern pc cases? Please don't take this as a rant. I really don't care one way or another what other people do to hide their own PSUs, I'd just like someone to explain to me wtf the big deal is. xD

I think it's more to cover the cables coming from the PSU. Personally I wish my case had a PSU, it helps with separating heat in your case too.

Basements are to hide all the disgusting wires coming out of the PSU.

Personally, I find psu basements generally abhorrent, but then again I won't buy a psu without black on black modular cabling so it looks good either way.

So cables are really what people are trying to avoid then? I guess that makes more sense. But if your just trying to hide the cable nest right in front of the PSU, wouldnt it make more sense to have a custom cover for that, than to hide the entire PSU as if the component itself is some kind of shameful bodily process to be hidden in the downstairs bathroom? xD

The cables suck having everywhere. It is exactly why the trinity case is SO DAMN INEFFICIENT.

HOW DO YOU COOL THIS WITH ALL THE WIRE UP YOUR A##, HOW?!

I cover the entire inside of my case. I don't know why people want a christmas tree for a computer.

glad i'm not the only one. i hate windows

i worried too much how everything will look, everything same color...

for what? so that i see my PC everyday and my brother once every 2 days?

it's not like you mod a car which is seen by hundreds of people everyday

i stoped worrying and now picking the parts is soooooooo much easier

It's not the PSU it's the cables lol. That's why some Phanteks cases have an opening to see the PSU logo. But many people don't like logos in general either especially if you're going for simplicity. Everybody loves PSUs

As others have mentioned, cables are a big part of the reason. But in addition, I would argue that this:

Looks a lot worse than this:

Thankfully my define R4 has a lot of space behind the motherboard tray, so I can just cram excess cables back there.

We hate PSUs because ones that aren't modular have massive, thick, cumbersome cables that bend and fit exactly where we don't need them to, and don't bend and fit exactly where we need them to.

wiring cables so that they look good is cumbersome and time consuming. Probably one of the biggest pains in the ass in building computers. Anything that helps with that terror is quite welcome, imo.

I'm also anti-window too, and because my PC is in my bedroom, very anti-lights.

I suppose the shroud often covers the HDDs too, in addition to the nest of cables. .

It is to hide your cables if you have extra and don't want to have it at bunched up between the motherboard tray and the back side case panel.
