Metal BB gun

I might be traveling to China soon to see my granddad, and I just remembered that I had a metal "BB" that I used to play with as a kid.
This gun is 95% not a legit Airsoft BB gun and a cheap Chinese ripoff, but the metal and the loading is the real deal.
It weights easily 500g+ and if thrown at someone can most likely cause bleeding and maybe even a knockout.

Here is the question, can I bring it to the UK?

I wish to carry it in hand luggage, but that will most likely not work.
But I'm scared that if I put it in my suitcase that the airport security will slash my case open, or even straight out burn it without even opening it.
I google it and most of it was in the US and everyone said it was "oh-kay" as long as you have proof that it's not a real gun and put it in luggage and not cabin material.

In the US you can just declare it and check it. I've done so several times with firearms, I cannot imagine it would be more complex for a BB gun.

But I don't think you can do that for international flights.

the only way you could get it in the uk would be to ship it but i am also pretty sure you need a gun license to own a bb gun in the uk i  could be wrong though

Yeah you need to do some paperwork before you can take it with you.

They are really dangerous so tbh it's normal that such thing is needed.

You'll need to ship it, u wont get on a flight to the UK with that.

U wont need a licence in the Uk for it, high powered air rifles, that's another story but small BB guns are fine last I checked.

You really wanted to bring something that looks like a gun onto a plane?

Also, no one would cut the case or burn it, especially if they would suspect you might have live ammo there. You'd risk getting detained and questioned, the toy would most likely get confiscated and so on. Don't try.

Just ship it. ;)

just ship it. No one checks packages. I dont think

If they find something like a gun they will figure out the details about it before letting it through customs. And if they are going to check if you have the required papers and you don't then you are just committing a crime. A quite bad one. Trying to get "illegal" (without the needed documents such things are classified illegal probably) weapons in a country such as the UK is really something you don't want to do...

When u ship it. make sure its painted.

The BB gun needs to not look to real. So bright orange tip or some such. If its not  then its classed as an imitation firearm and they are illegal unless ur part of a re-enactment club or some such.

EDIT. Buy some plasti -dip. Bright orange. Paint a part of the gun. When u get to the UK .. peal it of. Sorted.

When I was a kid I was entering the UK and they confiscated my Nerf gun. If they take something that looks like this:

then they're gonna take the BB gun.
