Is it worth replacing a 3820 with a Xeon 2670?

I work in IT and we are decommissioning our old servers. One of them happens to have a Xeon E-5 2670 in it and if its an upgrade I would rather take it instead of sending it off to get recycled.

 

I'm currently using an i-7 3820. What do you guys think?

I would say yes. You won't get the same overclock potential, but more cores for reasons.

Sure, but I want to know if its ideal to replace my 3820 with it.

Aren't most games single thread performance?

yes, but more cores means more mutltitasking like running a game, teamspeak, rendering a video, etc all at once with maybe 5% less gaming performance

I would prefer to have the best gaming experience possible over being able to multitask out the wazoo, but I take your point.
