390 overclocking

Subduck
Go to solution Solved by Amazingasian,

Just posted a reply to the other fella on it. It's an XFX Pro series 1050w

Okay.  Flip the fan to the front and see if that helps the temps.  As for the voltage, you should be fine to increase.  Just watch the temps carefully.  87C would be the MAX temps under load for me.

I want to overclock my 390 but I'm not sure if the standard xfx cooler is good enough for any voltage increases. At load the card hovers around 75-82C depending on the game. I have it at a stable 1125mhz core and 1575 on the memory with any vtage increasing but I want to push it further :D

What's the fan speed at load?  How's the airflow in your case?

What's your PSU? I really hope it's not the CX500 from your signature....

I have 1 intake in the front 2 exhausts in the top and rear. No cables obstruct the intake but I do have an NH D15 cpu cooler which maybe blocks some. Fans I have configured to go to 100% at 85C and 40% at 0-55C

I would change the exhaust in the top to an intake in the front.  You need that cool air flowing in one direction.  What's your PSU?

Haha no. That was my old system. I have an XFX Pro 1050W. It's a tier 1 psu.

Ok will do. By flipping them to the front you mean just changing the top fans to intake?

No.  Put it in the front and make it intake.  The general rule for airflow is to make all the air flow in one direction and have positive airflow.  You were breaking both of those rules.  The airflow police are on their way to your house right now. :D

Move the top fan to the front and set it as intake. It will help with not only with better temps, but also dust since it will be positive airflow. Have fun with overclocking. XFX is second behind MSI for best overclocker for the 390.
