Because "science"

I believe GPU's have thousands of far less powerful cores that help in rendering an entire image at once, where a CPU has far less more powerful cores.

Because OS support, lack of a reason, e.t.c.

Plus each CPU core is MUCH more powerful than each GPU core...

Just remember: Random people on the internet ALWAYS know more than professionals, when someone's lying, AND can predict the future.

This may seem a bit stupid or pointless but gpu's these days have upto a few thousand cores but how comes cpu's haven't hit this stage and will they ever hit That stage

because of the architecture and  GPU cores are a lot less powerful but are designed for a different role.

Good luck, Have fun, Build PC, and have a Wii and PS2 as your only consoles.

They're designed for different purposes, it's not that CPUs are "behind". GPUs have loads of really little cores, CPUs have a few powerful and versatile ones. Each one is better for different types of tasks.

Not sure but i believe it has to do with the how it is made, maybe something to do with the die.

I run my own indie game company called Color Dragon Studios where we are currently making a 2d platformer game called Small Earth.

Basically GPUs are made for processes which can be parallelized very well, which means that they can be split up into a lot of smaller tasks that can run simultaneously. CPUs in contrast are made for task which are more serial, which means that they can't be split up into lots of smaller parts very well. Which is why CPUs have very few, but powerful cores, whereas GPUs have a ton of weak cores.
