Oh my, I've been playing CSGO again lately since they've supposedly "balanced match making".

At first, when I started playing, I was kind of mad, I won 6 games straight then lost one and deranked... ... ... Several times...

But then I looked at it at a whole different way. I looked at it as I was spoiled by my rank that I and many other people didn't deserve. I am quite relieved to see this fix going on with the elo. I went from LEM to MG lol... Not even kidding. Though I seem to be sitting at MG right now, hopefully I see if I can rank, but so far my games have been pretty good and not complete rofl-stomps.

There's no such thing as "you didn't deserve your rank." That's 100% subjective. If you were at a rank, you deserved it since obviously you made it to said rank.

What Valve did is just change where ranks sit on the ELO table. On the blog post it literally said to make more ranks near the bottom (centered at GNM.) Instead of adding a few more ranks (higher than Global) they fixed a non-temporary problem with a temporary solution. Now, I don't give a FUCK about my rank, but it would have been cool to not lose lots of progress on ranking up (winning 4 games then deranking.) That's what I don't get.

It doesn't even seem like much changed! As MGII, I still get ranked with MGE/DMG players, and I still do good. My friend who I queue with often gets more than 30 frags every single game, mostly ones we win. I played 4 games last night, won 3, and all 3 games he was at the top, absolutely destroying the enemy team. But he doesn't rank up to be placed with higher ranking players.

This has actually made me cocky, because i am unranked (still waiting for my rank, only got 8 wins), and even now am playing with GN1s-2s, after calibration cooldown yesterday. Soo. fun.

But it IS NOT a temporary solution. They said that they had some sort of automated way to keep the ranls centered at GNM.

At no point did Valve change your hidden ELO. They only moved what visible rank that ELO corresponded with. Nothing broke, but they fixed the distribution curve of the ranks.

And no one stated that Valve changed my ELO. Lol...

It's temporary. Eventually, ranks will rise again, and it'll be centered around MGE again. That's naturally how it works, that's why it happened before they did the rank shift. The only way they could do that is to intentionally rank people up to GNM, then not let them rank up again. Otherwise, the players that were already in MG that deranked to GNM (a whole lot) will start ranking up again, giving another imbalance. Temporary.

That's still BS though...you have had to be someone with over 100 games played as a global to to stay there as I've played 16 games in global, lost first game then won 2 then lost again and then  won 12 in a row (top and second fragging), had a hacker on the other team so my team just trolled...instant derank from Global...this is unfair.

Same with my LEM smurf and DMG smurf, my DMG smurf has been DMG since the day it got a rank. I've play over 200 games on it with 150 wins on it...one day (was on a 5 win streak) trolled around 5 manning with silvers, got placed against 5 MGEs, lost the game on purpose, deranked...it's more heartbreaking than deranking on my main as I've had DMG on my smurf ever since it's birth 6 months ago...LEM account deranked after loosing 2 games while on a 15 win streak as I was trying to rank it up to supreme...

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

READ THE GODDAMN BLOG POST. NOT HARD.

We also shipped a recent update that will automatically monitor and maintain consistency of the players skill groups distribution. That should eliminate the need to make such disruptive boundary adjustments in the future.

My point is evident, I think you'l find.

I can literally just quote myself and the argument stands. Players will rank up, and it won't be centered at GNM anymore. The only thing Valve can do to stop that is literally rank up/derank people based on if GNM is the center of the ELO scale. Just because Valve says it won't happen doesn't mean it's 100% truth and there's no other way.

All that Valve is trying to accomplish is making the ranking system a bit more balanced and I would like to say this is a good step forward. Do you not see how imbalanced the ranking system was? 12% GNM, 9% MG, 9% MG2, 13% MGE? What's with that gap, don't you see anything wrong with that lol.

They aren't changing peoples ELO, or how you get ELO, but they are fixing how it scales, and of which we will never know exactly what those numbers are, whatever it is, they are making a good step forward to fixing it.

Uhm.. I already know they didn't change the ELO numbers, they changed where the ranks sit on the ELO scale. I didn't see anything wrong with it before, it's literally just people in ranks. What's wrong with that? How was it imbalanced?

I'm with what WarOwl said in his newest vlog: that Valve should give us our ELO number directly, so when we win a million games we can see how close we are to ranking up. Or if we lose games, we can see how close we are to deranking. That makes the whole invisible number system a bit less shitty, since right now you have no idea when you're gonna rank up, if you're gonna rank down, how you actually gain ELO, ect. Cause the rank system is a bit shitty with such a wide range of skill (they should do what LoL did, just ADD RANKS!)
