I just bought A Gigabyte windforce R9 290 used on amazon for $180, right here.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00IB7OR26/ref=psd_mlt_bc_B00IB7OR26 but a 380 is about the same price, I know the 290 is faster, but should I consider cancelling the order and buying a 380 that is new, the 290 is supposedly in amazing condition.

Id stick with the 290

Is this even a question?

390 is a re-brand of a 290 you mug

He's talking 380. And yes, the 290 will be significantly faster.

Hopefully my 650w XFX PSU can power it.

It's fine.

A high quality 500W would suffice. The XFX is good cause it's a Seasonic essentially. I run a 650W PSU with an overclocked FX-8350 and R9 290X. No issues.

yeah ik so he's essentially getting an extra +10 on his card for the same price.

actually, unless I find a decent deal on a 380, they are actually like 30 bucks more. There was a dream last week for an MSI 380 for $190 plus shipping on NCIXUS, but for the same Gigabyte card, its like $230 for a 380

That's a seasonic OEM unit, you can definitely power it with absolutely no issues.

It was on a good deal at Newegg on black Friday, $40 after mail in rebate.

The 290 isn't just faster, it's MUCH faster. I don't see the point in changing - there are no advantages save power draw and we're talking pennies.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

It sells for almost 2X the price in most places, so...

That was why I bought this in the first place, it's the best deal I've seen on a card that was one of the ones I was wanting, (gtx 960 4gb, r9 280,r9 380,r9 290 etc). Plus I had a bunch of amazon gift cards so that made this even less expensive.

I think the argument has overwhelmingly been to keep it, so that's what I'm going to do.

Good decision :) I was considering finding a 290 instead of buying a new 390... In the end the 390 was less hassle and I'm guaranteed a normal waranty, but it was tempting to try and find a 290.

this was so cheap for a 290, I figured what the heck, it's a couple years old (apparently used about 6 months by the previous owner) but it's probably the best performance I'm going to get for under 200 bucks.
