Best Intel processors and motherboard for under 300 dollar or slightly above 300

I am going to game on it. Also going to do editing. Will I get a 'k' series processor for that a budget?

Would do this personally. This board supports Skylake overclocking of non-K processors. The 6400 and 6500 will clock the same (i've seen people take the 6400 to 4.8ghz on water). I've included memory, as i didn't know if you already had DDR4 around or not, into your budget. The board also comes with a free game, so there's that.

My (incomplete) memory overclocking guide:

Depends entirely on the PSU. Can you link me to which unit it is?

Good and cheap is a hard thing to make possible, but Jonnyguru did give the EVGA 500B an 8.4/10, and its very cheap. It even has a 600w version that in theory, should be the same build quality.

600w should be more than enough to cover you.
