Buying and Storing...Bad Idea?

JCMikulak

I am slowly getting the parts for my next build, but there is no time-table for completion...it could be as long as another year away.  I am thinking about using my Christmas money to get a couple of parts and set them aside; it will be either a Samsung 950 Pro PCIe M.2 or 32GB DDR4 memory.  Since I won't be able to test either after immediately I receive it, should I just wait to purchase when I can put the entire system together?  Thanks!

We can't really predict how prices are going to drop, but I'd wait, because prices most likely won't rise but they most likely will drop.

Yes. I highly recommend purchasing everything at once, since new tech is coming out all the time and prices change; what you buy today could be cheaper a few months later or be outperformed by something else.

What everyone else has said. Plus your warranty on the items will just drain away.

Prices will drop and what you buy now might be the same price as a superior product in just a few months time.

Unless it's a good deal, grabbed my 390x brand new off amazon for £300. Came with 1 day delivery as well. Usually at £380 ish.
