Is there a linux distro that is good for Valve games like Dota 2, L4d, etc.... Out of the box? Could I somehow configure it to run Warframe?

Not really... Driver support is seriously lacking, so you're not going to get anywhere near the same performance of Windows 10.

Ubuntu is super easy to set up, and has native support for flash in firefox.
Fedora is also easy to set up, but as it is debian based, it is a little bit less compatible. 

I run Fedora on my laptop, and it feels lie a macbook. That said, it is not a walled garden.

 

If you play mostly valve games, you shouldnt have a problem, and other large games as well. Check the steam store page and it should say whether or not it is linux compatible.

Not really... Driver support is seriously lacking, so you're not going to get anywhere near the same performance of Windows 10.

All the games he mentioned work just fine and smooth on Linux even if framerates are lower. (I don't know about warframe)

 

Why not SteamOS?

SteamOS is made to be shipped with steam machines. It's goal is to make a PC work like a console by taking care of all maintenance tasks (e.g. driver updates) in the background and giving you a GUI (steam big picture) which can be operated with a controller. So if you want to have a living room PC and use it like a console you should use steamOS. Otherwise you use a normal desktop linux distro (e.g. Ubuntu, Mint, debian etc) and install steam on top of it (just like windows). Then you get all the other PC stuff such as office suites, music apps, video players etc...

I'd personally go for Ubuntu as it feels the most professional.

It has a large user base so if you cant figure something out you will have the most chance of finding a fix on google.
