I think the highest one out right now is the AMD FX 9590 but Intel's better in most situations.

None. Go Intel or don't upgrade. It's not worth it.

If you have no budget, go with Intel, their architecture is much more widely supported and performs better across the board.

Go with Intel if you're going to get a new board anyways. Please do not go for AMD until Zen is released and it kicks ass.

OK then a 860k, or if you need the integrated GPU a a10-7870.

9590 is more of a binned 8350, and still has bipolar average frames.  If he wants single thread I think the 860k or whatever that one Athlon is called, is better in that situation.

the 860k still does better in single thread, smh AMD. But most games are becoming better with Multiple Cores, my i5 4590 aint that much better.

I think it can be worth it, but not for high end gaming.

Then the 860k will be fine with a low / midrange GPU.

The 390x will be seriously bottlenecked by any FM2 CPU.

860k isn't that huge of an improvement, so just get a better cooler and overclock it.

im gonna go with

Fx-9590

Go with an intel platform. The FX-9590 is incompatible with the FM2+ socket and it's ancient.
