Police warning over myth that dialling 999 charges mobile phone battery

snowComet

There is a myth circulating UK since last year, that mobile phones can be charged through dialing 999 (uk's 911), and then immediately disconnected it. A spokesperson from Derbyshire Police appealed to phone users not to believe this rumor.

There is no way any mobile phone battery can be boosted by anything other than a normal charger. We have received several silent 999 calls recently which have turned out to be people who are trying to get more charge on their phone.

Haha, how stupid. But I find it a little ignorant to call an emergency line just to charge your phone so you can tweet for longer or something.

There was a thing that started on 4chan. They made a picture that looked like a real scientific study. It said something along the lines of "phones can get charged faster by putting them in the microwave."

People believed it and ruined their phones.

So you are saying that phones are turning the press of a button into energy? Well those are some awesome phones. Seriously though why has no one invented this yet. Every time you click a button the resistance is turned into energy. When you're low on power you just click as fast as you can. Its fucking genius!
