I would give it a try, i recently reconnected with my bestfriend from highschool that i fell for at the time (talking like 8 years ago) and i opted to tell her, Now i saw this coming but she saw right through me like i do her and she happily started dating me. Now, why do i say this cause it may sound insanely unhelpful? our friends and bf/gf at the time detested the fact we were inseparable and always tried to screw things up. ill say this, if she wants to be with you no matter what her friends say she'll ignore them. Tell her and if it doesnt look like its taking a positive path just drop it in an instant. Just dont go in with your hopes high, tell yourself that she could tell you off and accept that before you even try or its gonna hurt.. a lot.

11/50 States have the legal age at 18, though that's the highest any state has it. Also, as seen Tennessee had exceptions like 13-17 year olds can do it.
