1440p vs 4k Gsync

Go to solution Solved by Paranoid Kami,

4K since it would be better for movies. They don't sell 1440 TV screens so content will always be in 1080 or 4K. Go 144Hz if you play any competitive games.

Looking for a new monitor at the moment. Currently using a 1080p TV.

Just wondering whether 1440p monitor with a high refresh rate is better than getting a 4K monitor with a standard 60hz refresh rate.

I have a GTX 980 atm and don't really plan to SLI until the distant future.

I like future proofing and currently am leaning towards 4K. However, everywhere I look, majority of the communities are pro-1440p.

I don't really have a price constraint, but Acer X34 is probably way out of what I want to pay.

Uses will be mainly for movies, games, and general use.

Chur,

Blind

FPS will be better with the higher frame rate but other games you will see the benefit of a higher resolution screen.
