GTA V ERR_GFX_D3D_INIT

Roboslash1

Hi,

I get this crash sometimes when playing GTA V. Its really irritating. I have tried a lot of things, from verifying the game cache, deleting direct x files and installing them again, and even downclocking my card. I still get this crash randomly.

Any solution?

Try deleting the settings.xml in user/yourname/documents/rockstargames/gtav, in some cases it helps. Another solution could be changing the direct x version ingame. I have been getting the error aswell when upgrading my graphics card a while back. Only reinstalling the game completly solved the issue for me. Tried all other suggested fixes aswell. Rockstar never adressed it even though there is a HUUUUUUUGE thread on the steam forums about it.

Sorry I am answering this so late, though thanks. I'm gonna try to reinstall the game, and try to play the game in directx 10, which is a bummer since I really enjoyed the nice visuals of the game :(

Im kind of disappointed. The game has been out for so long and this still hasn't been solved. I did contact the support at some point and all they said I should do was to downclock my card.

I hate losing performance.

Btw I did underclock though it didn't fix the problem anyway.

I guess we can wait for GTA VI to be released in 2018. And then wait 2 years for it to come out of PC. By 2020 my interest for GTA is probably gone..

I've only had it on pc. 160 hours of fear never knowing what happens next. At this point I'm too lazy to even play it before its properly fixed.

Does it happen during play or when starting the game? I used to get all kinda weird crashes launching gta v and finally found it didn't like my flight setup plugged in. Removing all usb input devices but mouse, keyboard, and 360 controller fixed those crashes for me. Now it only crashed on exit to desktop but at that point I'm done playing the game anyway.
