980

390x is similar to stock 980, but 980 overclocks a ton.

Moved to Graphics Cards. Doesn't belong in PC Gaming.

390X. the only reason i would pick 980 is because the amd 390x run very hot, draws a lot power but it has a water cooler so... and 8gb vram i believe

as far as price i dont know... i tend to be nvidia fan

how about the fact that 980 is noticeably faster?

how about the maybe fact that one is water cooled and one is not? (for temps on overclocking MAYBE)

doesn't help. 390x doesn't overclock doesn't matter what you put it on.

The 980 is faster and that would be all that matters to me.

Check your Stores. If you can buy a 980, maybe you want spend some more Dollars on a good 980Ti Offer.

Runs near same temps and draws like 20-50W more power?

980 is faster - if given same price I'd go for 980

If 390X is still 100$ cheaper I'd go for that. Lower temps and noise and more VRAM for less cash

Am I missing something? Didn't the 390X beat it in sheer performance? Or did Nvidia release a new driver that beat the 390X in sheer performance?

AMD VS Nvidia = A lost mail man that will do whatever it takes to give you your mail... despite being a few days late... and never realizing that the house that the mail is for was pretty much the first house he started from VS A well dressed, well groomed, well cleaned, and cologned-up donger that just wiggles itself and is the type of guy that makes after-parties a nightmare. Basically its: An idiot that tries VS a jerk that ruins every after-party. Pick your poison.

Well the 980 will be faster than the 390X as AMD's equivalent to it is the Fury; I believe the Fury is faster than the 980 by a narrow margin.

Depending on prices I'd get the 390X over the 980 as the 980 is currently one of the worst price to performance cards currently out, and when it isn't the most powerful card anymore like it was a year ago I find it hard to argue in favor of it.

at stock clocks it's similar, but no. Beat if by 0.1% maybe.

Not in all games, sadly. :(

Especially in higher resolutions, the 390X holds its own.

390X it is, then. If its still around $50-$100 cheaper, I'd take the 390X over the 980. If I had a choice between 30fps for $400-500 or 29.(something something) for $400-450, I'd take 29 fps to save money. I could buy a game or two (or three, depending on sales) with whats left over.
