Nikon D3300 - What do you think?

Senzelian

I'm still a little bit of a scrub when it comes to DSLRs / SLRs or cameras in general and I actually didn't want to rush out and buy a DSLR that early,

but I got a 100€ coupon* from my boss and so I would be able to buy a Nikon D3300 for only ~250€ with the 18-55 lens.

So I looked at a  lot of reviews recently and it seems like the D3300 is a pretty nice camera overall, especially for beginners like me.

Before you ask, the D3300 is the only DSLR I could get there. We usually don't sell DSLRs, apart from this one and a buttugly Pentax  <_<

So what do you think? Is that a good deal?

*The coupon must be used until 31th December.

I'd always start off on a Canon, bit easier to use IMO.

im not sure about the deal but I can tell you I shot these on a d40 which was more or less the same bracket of camera as the d3300 back in 2009, and the 3300 will easily outclass this if used properly

I also frankly wouldnt put much weight into its easier to lean on a canon..learning on my d40 wasnt exactly rocket science and I had 0 education on what I was doing.

These pictures look amazing.

I think I have to learn a lot more about cameras until I can do such amazing shots, but if at least the camera is able to do that, then I'm convinced to get the D3300.

Ya you wont be getting stuff like that out of the box, esp at night, it will take practice but even then it will probably offer you better photos then you have ever seen

This was taken about... 4 months after I got my d40? so even with some very basic knowlage about composition you can get some nice stuff even if you do get lost in camera settings at times lol (that being said there is one obnoxious problem I have with this photo but eh)

I just wish it could take video, I would be solid if it did.

Did you combine images on this? I see the clouds and water... but no way that happened in 1/30th of a second.

Edit: Im stupid, its saying 30 seconds on flicker, not 1/30. derr.

I've used my brother's D3200, which is the older model. It is easy to use, and I think it's a good entry level DSLR. My brother shot this with it, which looks great on a 30 x 40 cm canvas print from Jessops.

That looks great. I got the d3300 yesterday and I will play around with it over the weekend. Hopefully I can soon present some nice shots :)
