Hi Guys,

I was looking for a 4gb R9 380 and found a deal on ebay 90$ cheaper than other sellers. The seller says that it has hardly been used but I'm not sure if I should buy it. There is no return policy and the seller has 100% rating on the 4 items he sold.

Thanks for any advice.

If you could link us we could have a better insight and let you know if it is truly fishy.

But from what you are saying it sounds like a scam, so stay away from it.

It's funny that whenever I ask where is a good place to sell computer components I'm told I should try ebay. Yet whenever anyone asks about buying from ebay, people say dont buy from there...

Yer I'd leave it, he is a new seller as well!

Try to buy new parts and not second hand parts (otherwise if you don't know what to check, 1 week later it will be faulty), kinda like my first car ;)

Might add this later...

It is only a good idea to purchase PC components off of eBay if: 1. The item comes with a warranty, or: 2. You are trying to build a PC on the cheap.

For me, I buy all components that I can't afford to get brand new off of eBay because of the fact that Amazon in Australia is a pile of horse droppings. When I say that, I mean all they sell is Kindle eBooks.

Hi. I live in Australia too, and this seems to be a good deal for the money.

Remember that with eBay anywhere in the world, if you get ripped off, you can claim your money back through PayPal and they follow up on the case.

But getting back to your original post, it would be a good idea to buy it if you need/want it because if it's cheaper, other people will try to snag the offer.

That'd be really nice but something tells me it won't come, at least for a while.

Lets hope the Kindle loses a lot of market share and hopefully we can have PROPER Amazon.

By the way, do you know if we can order from Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk etc. because if we can, it would make life a bit easier.

you can but it will convert AU to USD which is really crap and will calculate import fees after you have committed, haven't done it  my self only cause it might end up costing way more cause of the import fees.

You will have to ask why he is selling it.

No one buys a GPU to test if it works and sells it new.

The last time I tried to sell something off craigslist, I showed up and the guy was standing next to a black van and he asked me to walk over and set the laptop down inside of it... He completely refused to take it any way other than me walking over and placing it in the seat of his car. The seat furthest from me, so that I would have to bend over into the car a bit to reach as well. So you can understand my apprehension about using this site.

Yea, we have one called Gumtree but the experience me and my dad have had with it has been ridiculous.

Sometimes you get good stuff off of it, but other times you'll send someone an SMS and they will either not respond or in the case of my dad when trying to buy a monitor, people are just jerks.

Even if it worked fine you could lie to Ebay and say it was broken. They'll refund you and flag the user. You can't trust buyers or sellers on there. Between the garage sale people and the ones trying to scam people it's become a gamble.
