scrapyard wars ft. jayztwocents?

Edgar R. Zakarian

Link anywhere ????

Jesus fuck. I'm not going through all the old tech talks to find the one point where he says that shit.  You know how hard it is to find something in a Jay/Barna tech talk?

I hope you can trust that I have no intention of lying about this and Jay was quite emphatic.

Jay was straight up defending Linus' move to Vessel last week.  He spent a good couple of minutes on it.

was this on Tech Talk?

Got an RC? head over to The Rc Thread and tell us about it, or you can just discuss rc in general there as well.

Linus and Luke would have a hard time ad it is against Jay, include watercooling, and he would completely obliterate them

Maybe, but remember that working with scrap is not the same ball game as using new parts. Plus, Linus and Luke have previous "experience" in that. It might be closer than you'd expect. Besides, even if he would obliterate them it would be fun to see how he'd do it.

The ending was... lol.  It was so awkward really.  I personally found SYW 3 really dry, cos every episode was...going nowhere cos 12 mins had to be divided into 3 sections, so less sheninigans could actually happen.

I'd much rather SYW be split into at least 22 minute episodes of content than the 12 minutes we got.

half hour to hour episodes would have helped a fuck ton there...

I don't know why, but it's been mentioned before.

I thought he later debunked that rumour, not sure though.

Considering HE explicitly told everyone on stream... yea... no.

The only thing he has said was "No, he doesn't hate linus or anything".

BTW this comment was around the time SW3 was teased. So uhh sometime between late june and august. Enjoy 12 hours of Barnacles talking about his life at microsoft.

Yeah, I really don't see Jay as a kit-bash type of builder. The last time I saw him try and modify something, he drilled through circuit traces on his test-bench MB.

Linus? Hell yeah. We don't hav[e] any mounting hardware for these huge CPU coolers on these expensive (donated) cpus, so let's get out the zip-ties and see what happens.

I am not so much wanting longer episodes as less time between episodes.

Jay is a married/family man way down in California LMG is way up in Canada.  Whilst not insurmountable would imagine the logistics would be difficult.

Anyway I get the impression (nothing definite just a 'feeling') that there is no love lost between Jay and Linus (no active dislike just a 'meh' attitude to each other).

PSST it was Barnacules that started the whole 'Lambo' thing it was only Jayz channel.

He visits @Barnacules often which is actually a relatively short drive from Metro Vancouver.

For "often" read twice.

Barnacules is a major part of tech talk (now taking turns to host) he is also friends with Jay.

Besides which I didn't say it was impossible for Jay to visit LMG I just said it was difficult

I'd definitely watch, but I hope they can find ways to condense the series. It feels a little unnecessary to watch people shop around for parts for half the season. This is obviously very subjective, but I'd prefer more time spent (during the actual competition and in editing) on the building/troubleshooting and test running of the systems. Or at least even it all up to roughly the same amount for each. If something funny or interesting happens during part shopping, obviously include it, but otherwise just cut to "We got this ____ for $____."

I'd like to see 3 15-25 min episodes (My personal preference, but some people prefer shorter videos and more of them). Saying all this, I don't spend a week editing them so I'll just let Edzel sort it out. I'm sure there have been many discussions about ways to improve the series already.

This is interesting.

I agree that we do not need to follow them through all their thoughts as they drive/walk around shopping for parts.  Keep a camera man on them for those "special" moments though.

At a set time (maybe the end of each day), each competitor would describe their day in around 5 minutes.  The events they describe can be scrubbed for in the footage<<< probably how it is done now anyways... but having a 5 minute presentation standardized for each competitor could speed up the editing workload.  A lot of it would be based on the quality of the presentation:

- What was the initial plan for the day?

- What was accomplished (found/bought)

- "Special" moments

- Lead in to the next day

I am just picturing a FAP/Techquickie level of quality with daily footage as sort of b-roll.
