970 or 980

I am buying a new gpu and monitor the monitor will be a 1080p x 1440p monitor i am guessing a 970 will be sufficient enough to beast this resolution in what ever I throw a it. Or would a 980 be better, i thought i'd just ask before hand to be on the safe side.

I personally dont think the 390X is worth the price for the extra performance. This is coming from someone who has a 390X and built a friend a PC with a 390.

970 if you really want to go with the green team, but yeah the 390 will give more bang for your buck.

in fallout there are random drops to 25-30 FPS on a 390 every 15-30 minutes, and it lasts for only 4-6 seconds. Thats it. 60 FPS all the time everywhere else.

Nvidia performs significantly better than AMD (obviously there are some optimization Issues). My rig runs It fine.

Well, If you do the same on Nvidia youre back to Nvidia having a huge step beyond AMD. And youre not supposed to say "well If you drop the settings those cards perform on par". Theres not denying theres an Issue with AMD In Fallout 4.

There are issues imposed by an aging engine that also appear on Nvidia cards - I encourage you to look for "980 Ti FO4 issues" on google

Im not saying Fallout 4 Is the best engine, but Nvidia DOES perform better In this game. Theres an Issue with AMD In this game, but Im sure It will be fixed eventually.
