Greetings. My little brother is getting tired of his FX-6300 and his 270x so I told him lets fix that.

Upgrades:

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/fYJVxr

Now, I've built a handful a PC's but haven't really upgraded anything before. My few questions are, do I need to re-install windows? Is a Rosewill Greenseries 430w powersupply enough? (Website says 400w minimum) Lastly, is Skylake the route to take? Sorry I haven't been on the forums lately so my questions may seem ignorant. Also the GTX 960 is a must because of shadowplay.

You'll have the same harddrive so no need for a new OS (unless the new mobo corrupts everything)

430 should be enough

OP needs shadowplay. I'd also suggest a 380 but he needs shadowplay.

My knowledge about PSU's isn't that good, but 430w should be enough for that. Heck my build uses like 450 only

A Rosewill 430W is worse than a Diablotek 600W....

960 is horrible and overpriced T_T - just use OBS

My personal experience with shadowplay. It works at first. Then it starts hitting you in the face

I'm literally forced into the August WHQL driver btw - Nvidia drivers for my 860M can't even finish a goddamn installation... they released a special patch for 860M cards which FAILED to fix the issues.... there was a poll here - 0 people answered "yes" to "did your issue get fixed"

I just use Action instead. It has support for 120fps and different formats and doesn't use much system resources. Costs 20bucks but its worht it since shadowplay just fucks up all the time. (It really does, like it works fine and then you reboot and then it doesn't start without a registry tweak. Has happend way to many times.)

Thanks for the build list, appreciate it being cheap! Will probably go with that.

Happy I could help. That is the best 380 on the market so it should be more than capable :)

As for the PSU, it's not that 430W isn't enough, it's that your PSU is not really good. Customer reviews aren't really something to go by as they don't open up the PSU and look at components, they don't do cross-load tests or hot and cold testing.
