Cpu pins go crunch

anthonyc813

Pretty much. Bent pins aren't covered by ASUS motherboard warranties. I did the same thing, and I just ended up having to buy a new board.

Yup. You got yourself a paperweight. In some locations CID can still be repaired via warranty extensions (actually an insurance, you need to have bought one) or with cold hard cash. Replacing the socket is entirely possible but usually quite expensive and definitely not worth the money if a replacement unit is available.

Is it even worth mailing it to ASUS now??

They'll probably just mail it back to you.

unless you can bend the pins back

That would be quite time consuming although great if it worked.

Fucking! Fuck! I tried my best to put it back on all nice and gently!!! Shit!

How to bend the pins back: You need a hollow syringe needle.

1) Carefully insert the syringe needle into each pin and bend it back GENTLY

2) Please for the love of god take your time

Well here's one thing, go to a repair shop and see if they repair sockets. They may replace it and it probs won't cost as much as the mobo. Then you return it and hopefully would have only spend half of the cash it would take to buy a new one.
