Hey guys, had a problem while playing BF3 the other day.

After a total of 2,5 rounds a Windows error message popped up saying that too much ram is used by BF3, and i had to close it. RAM usage at that time was 99%, after closing BF3, it immediately dropped down to the regular level of about 30%

Restartet BF and my RAM usage got up again to about 95%, is this normal? Can´t imagine that BF3 would need 5 GB of free RAM to work.. i mean, that would be a quarter of all the game files (21GB) in total.

Sys specs:

i5-2400

8 GB DDR 3 Ram

HD 7850 2GB (Catalyst 13.8 Beta)

Win 7 64

It may be just a memory leak. Try reinstalling the game and/or drivers.

So... If Jesus had the gold, would he buy himself out instead of waiting 3 days for the respawn?

BF3 is a 32-bit program so it cant address more than 4GB's.  You have to have a memory leak somewhere.... not necessarily from BF3 though. Try leaving the Task Manager processes windows in real time so you can see where the leak is coming from.

Hm...the problem fixed itself. Moved the BF3 files to my SSD to shorten loading time and retried, everything seems to be fine. RAM usage at full 64 player server was at 45%

Maybe there was a corrupt game file or something that got repaired by the moving/fake reinstallation...

Thanks anyways.

And here we go again, haven´t played since the last post. Yesterday i tried it again and bam, BF3 crashes everything down. Different Win error msg though. Last time it told: Battlefield is using to much Ram an needs to be shut down. This time it just says that i havent enough Ram, i should close everything and restart.

Also a DirectX error.

What should i try? Re-Roll to an older graphics driver?

Also, where does that atiedxx.exe come from? Is that part of the CCC?

bf3 only uses arround 1 GB (less or more depending on maps ). if it goes above 2GB that is impossible and there is 100% a problem

1.4 GB is possible in rare scenarios.

very rare scenarios.

What exactly does FC3 and your RAM usage have to do with BF3 and RAM usage in this specific scenario??

No, was not normal at all -BF3 and FC3 are very different, not to mention that BF3 is a 32 bit app, not sure about FC3. Also, I would think if your FC3 is using 9GB of ram, you also have a memory leak...

Try closing Steam to the taskbar if you have that open. That fixed it for me.

Nope, steam was closed all the time.

However, after completely re-downloading and reinstalling the 21 GB game files and the firefox addon, it seems that battlelog now also f*#ks up my firefox(random crashes while i was in my Battlelog profile).

Played 2 rounds today, now BF3 crashes at starting screen.

Since i´ve never had any problems with other demanding games or applications i´ll go for the easiest solution ---> Deinstall Origin,BF and all the other crap that comes with it.

Don´t have the patience to deal with that kind of BS for that game.
