I require assistance, slight WC leak

I recently decided to do my re-do my loop, changing the lighting, tubing, and removing the NB block. However, I noticed that my 240mm rad had some really worn threads and my fears were confirmed after my leak test. It wasn't doing it before but it's started leaking very slowly in very small amounts.

It's not in any particularly dangerous place so I'm running it on a leak for now with some tissues underneath it and maybe a rag or piece of a towel later. Worst case scenario I'll need a new fan if I neglect it for too long.

Does anyone know if it would be possible that hot glue or an epoxy can stop or slow the leak down for about a month until I can buy a new 240mm rad? I probably won't be able to buy one any sooner and I'm going to be starting a pretty busy semester tomorrow. I have extra barbs so I don't mind losing the ones on there now.

Rebuild

If the rads hidden I would look into using caulk. The sealant used on tiles and bath tubs.

Or if Billy Mays was still alive he would suggest might putty :P

Thanks, I'm pretty sure I have some I'll have to go dig through my garage.

Lol, yeah, I still have some slightly long runs to the rest now but it's mostly necessary to fill it.

could you take a picture of the faulty thread?

also your OP does make much sense. sorry just my OCD :P

It would constitute too much effort taking all that apart for a picture of something you could barely see in addition to it being difficult to photograph since the inside threads of the rad are worn, the barbs are fine.

Also fixed.

Ohhh ok this is making much more sense. I thought the threads were cracked.

Like I said before, but some caulk onto the threads then add the barb. Problem solved

A very simple fix. Get some "thread tape" which you can from a plumbing place and wrap that around the thread a few times and that will be leak fixed

I actually did that already because I was worried about a leak seeing as how bad the threads were.

The o-ring should stop the leak. This isn't the radiators fault but the fittings. As long as you screw it in tight there should be no leak.

Does it screw in enough so that the o-ring on the fitting is squashed tight?

The O ring was fine when I took the barbs off, I was hesitant to tighten it too much to avoid further stripping and used plumbing tape to create a stronger seal. However, you're probably right, it's not as squeezed down as it could be.

I'll definitely try tightening it more (probably with a wrench since it's taking a huge amount of torque to move it) and will use caulk or an epoxy if it still leaks.

I might just not do anything until I buy a new rad since it leaks slowly enough that the tissue practically dries before the next droplet and I really don't want to keep it.

You may want to buy a spacer if it's that hard to move. You really shouldn't need to use a wrench.

do you happen to have monsoon fittings with primochill tubing; they are known to have issues
